Plaza Lights in Kansas City

There are many places that fill our hearts with joy around the holiday season. If you're fortunate enough to be around Kansas City over the holidays, you're fortunate enough to take in the beauty of the lights on the Country Club Plaza.

The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO is a shopping center that is very popular year round. However, the holiday season is when it truly shines.

The "Plaza Lights" have a long-standing tradition which dates back to the 1920s. Beginning with a single strand in 1925, by 1930 the first official lighting ceremony took place. The tradition in Kansas City is to head down to the plaza on Thanksgiving night to watch the plaza lights be turned on. Each year, a special guest switches on the lights.

They truly add an extra sparkle to the holiday season.

Where is your favorite place to spend the holidays?
